From Company B, the Kübelwagen (trans. "Tubtruck"), or Volkswagen Type 82, was highly regarded by the German military in its role which mirrored the role of the Willy's Jeep in allied armies. Captured Kübelwagens were regarded dismissively by US and British engineers. Perhaps a real measure of its performance lies in the fact that from its production between 1940 and 45, over fifty thousand were produced with little adjustment in design.
