Great Britain was the only major power to develop what is essentially an armorued bus as a command vehicle. 415 were produced and it entered service in North Africa in 1941; three were captured by the Germans and pressed into service. They were nicknamed "Dorchester" because they were big and comfortable, like the famous London hotel. Dorchesters were also used in Italy and Northern Europe.
