Inspired by the Regulators operating during the Lincoln County War with Billy the Kid at the helm, this faction has some neat gunfighting tricks and some co-ordinated gunplay that you have not seen anywhere before. If they get the right cards...
They have weapon options that encourage a mobile style. All the standard 2 Rep guys can take pistols or repeaters, and one may take buffalo rifle. Take it, especially if you have long lines of sight. You can have one of those games when you're popping down a card and activating an ability and you're rifleman is cracking off a shot with +4 at any range. And then there's the rest of your boys.
The Pals ability gives them a decisive slip away from an unwanted close encounter; one Duck Back a turn is with an extra 10cm move. "That's a lot of killing" is their once per game ability. When a Regulator goes down this bonus may be activated giving +1 to your shootin' rolls for the rest of the turn. Arguably the best ability in the game and makes up for the shotgun weakness.
Their Jack - "I changed my mind. Kiss my ass!" - kills a coward stone dead. It ends the Duck Back opponent's turn immediately. Game over. The Queen - "He ain't all there, is he?" - is for a dodgy Nerve test on a wounded Regulator. It passes the test and removes a further Under Fire marker. The King - "Get ready for hell" - ignores all modifiers for Regulators for the turn. Take the hits and then play this when you're looking a little weak on initiative. Great to combine with your "That's a lot of killing" ability and the Ace. "Reap the whirlwind, Brady. Reap it." is a true Ace of a card. +1 to Shoot and HtH for the turn. Stack, stack, stack!
Another superb set of miniature gunfighters by the maestro Mark Evans, the Regulators are just a bad ass group of lovely sculpts.
