The Bad & The Ugly has 13 factions and, for veteran DMH players, four of these are new. Confederados haven’t quite admitted that the Civil War has ended, and they’ve gone full bandit! In that conflict, these fellows acted as guerillas, raiding Union lines and causing havoc. The core of this faction is of veteran soldiers with optional new recruits from any willing villain, fortune hunter or adventure seeker willing to join.
Confederados have an interesting weapon mix with the option of muskets. Now, muskets do have their shortcomings but, in the hands of the veteran Confederados, can be devastating. Arguably, they can pour out more hot lead death than any other faction given the right combo of cards and abilities…
This faction can do anything. They can fight, they can get all close in HtH, and they have plenty of card or ability based buffs to boost nerve and markers. They are fearsome on the attack in HtH; their Rebel Yell ability can put an Under Fire marker on an opponent on the charge.
Whistling Dixie is a once per game ability and needs to be used at the right moment. In conjunction with the “It ain’t right and it ain’t wrong card”, it’s a killer. That card – the King – effectively allows musket armed Characters to volley fire. Ouch.
The Jack – “Dyin’ ain’t much of a living, boy” – is a Move bonus; the Queen - “...you gotta get mean…” - is an Under Fire removal card; and the Ace – “It’s just bad luck…” - whacks failed Nerve tests and extra Under Fire markers. Confederado players will soon learn how to combine these with that Whistling Dixie ability.
The models are lovely, our fave is the Sergeant with the banjo slung on his back.
